Is your child difficult to understand? Do you constantly have to interpret for your child? Your child may have a speech sound disorder. This can impact overall intelligibility, socialization, and skills required for reading. Book a consultation with us to see if an evaluation and speech therapy would be appropriate.
Is your child stuttering? Evidence shows early treatment for stuttering is most effective. Although speech therapy does not cure stuttering, there are research-backed ways to decrease the amount of stuttering and reduce secondary behaviors (grimacing, blinking etc). Stuttering therapy also incorporates counseling aspects to improve the quality of life of those who stutter. -
Do you feel your child’s ability to understand and produce language is delayed? Can your child answer wh- questions? Speak in sentences? Is it frustrating to figure out your child’s wants and needs? For more information: Click here to visit Mayo Clinic's websiteOur language therapy is suitable for children who have neurodevelopmental disorders (autism, down syndrome etc.). We consider the WHOLE child when supporting communication and will incorporate emotional and sensory aspects during treatment. We have received additional training for Natural Language Acquisition and Gestalt language processing for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We may also utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for children who are non-speaking.
Language therapy can also help children perform better in school. Language therapy can focus on building vocabulary, describing, formulating a variety of sentences, comparing and contrasting and more. Private therapy allows SLPs to work with children 1:1, so they receive the treatment they need. -
Caregiver coaching does not replace therapy, but it can be a great way to start. If you are unable to commit to therapy at this time or are currently on a waiting list, we can provide practical ways to foster and support delayed communication for your child. Book a consultation for more information.
